The Features of the Lakai Cambridge
Materials used in the Cambridge
The Cambridge from Lakai utilised 3 main material types. Suede, mesh, and synthetic leather. This cross over of material maintains vintage vibe without compromising the modern feel.
Suede is used strategically throughout the Cambridge and is placed in areas of high-wear. Such as the toe-cap, Heel, and around the eyelets of the lacing system. Suede is used throughout many different skate shoes for its incredible properties which includes strength, flexibility, and breathability.
Where suede isn’t found on this skate shoe mesh has been placed. On both the inside and outside of the shoe which on top of which is place the signature Lakai Flare logo. At the base of the lace system and also throughout the tongue mesh is found. Placing a mesh material in these key areas of the Lakai Cambridge increases breathability and ventilation of this shoe.
Synthetic leather is utilised for the finishing touch on the heel of the shoe with “Lakai” stitched into it to remind everyone of the incredible brand you are wearing.
The PARA-MOUNT Outsole from Lakai features dual density rubber. This incredible advancement in rubber tech helps absorb high impacts and reduce fatigue. The arch and sidewall of the shoe is reinforced and the heel had built-in cushioning. The PARA-MOUNT Outsole provides the board feel expected of a vulcanised shoe but the impact resistance of a cup-sole.
DELUX-LITE Premium Foam Sock-liner
The luxurious Deluxlite sock-liner utilises premium foam and a deep contoured heel. The contouring of the heel helps increase heel hold and reduces heel lift when skating. Heel lift happens when a shoe is too loose. The Lakai Cambridge holds the skaters foot snuggly but never feels too tight or restrictive.
Hex-treat Patterned Sole
Lakai’s hex-tread sole. This sole ensure the highest surface area is achieved without compromising flexibility. Increasing the surface area in turn increases the grip the shoe has when in contact with the griptape. Using a hex style pod throughout the sole allows for full 360 degree flexibility ensuring switching between foot positions is smooth and easy.
Lakai Cambridge Review
As mentioned at the top of the blog the Lakai Cambridge has fast become a shop favourite. we’ve included a customer review of the shoe below.
“The Lakai Cambridge skate shoe has been a go to shoe for me. Since getting back into skating a year ago i switched between a few different brands and shoe silhouettes. I finally settled when I was introduced to the Cambridge by NSS. Straight from the off, I found the shoe extremely comfortable and flexible. Break in time was pretty much non-existent. Kickflip’s where there straight away and the shoe grips up real nice. For a shoe under the £60 price tag it provides the performance of a shoe in the higher price bracket and even outperforms a lot of major brands. If you haven’t yet tried The Cambridge then you are really missing out.”
