Enjoi
Who are Enjoi Skateboards?
Enjoi, primarily a skateboard deck manufacturer was established in 2000 by professional skateboarder Marc Johnson. Marc wasn’t alone. He had help from Rodney Mullen. Marc revealed that the name and panda logo came from a dream he had.
Following the establishment of the company Marc started to grow the team. Inviting friends that he skated with to join. Both Louie Barletta and Jerry Hsu were the first recruits. Louie has continued with Enjoi since this point and is now the team manager.
Eventually, in 2010, Marc left Enjoi to Join Chocolate Skateboards. He was tired of double-checking every brand decision and pretty much just wanted to be a pro skater.
Since 2010 the company has seen different managers come and go but one person has been there through it all. Louie, now Louie is everything Enjoi stands for. Fun, outgoing, quirky, and just an outright skate rat!
So now we know where Enjoi started what about their wood?
Enjoi Skateboard Decks
Pressed and prepped by Dwindle Enjoi decks benefit from individual press. Individually pressing skateboard decks is more time consuming and takes longer. However, it leads to a much better quality deck and ensures quality is maintained. Each deck will be completed identical to the one before and after.
Enjoi/ Dwindle offers 4 different types of construction with varied price points. below is a list of all the types with their benefits over the typical 7-ply construction.
Enjoi Hybrid Skateboards
Starting off at the lower end of the price bracket all Enjoi Hybrid Decks sell for around £45. The Hybrid construction comes from a blend of Birch & American Maple wood. Stuck together with the finest epoxy resin glue and pressed individually. Each hybrid Enjoi deck comes with a 90-day warranty against warpage.
The Hybrid blend is similar to a metal alloy. It combines the best properties from 2 wood types. making these decks frontier than the industry standard 7-ply.
Enjoi Resin7 Skateboards
The R7 skateboard decks from Enjoi are pretty much the midpoint for their skateboard decks. The retail for £55. featuring 7-ply North American Maple and epoxy resin glue these decks are individually pressed to provide excelled quality and consistency with their skateboard shapes. The resin7 construction provides a long deck life and strong pop.
The Resin7 skateboard decks come with a 30-day guarantee against breakage. Enjoi are that confident in their wood!
Enjoi Impact Light
Now, this is where things start to get a little bit fancy and more expensive. £60 will get you one of Enjoi’s finest impact light skateboard decks.
The Impact Light Decks from Enjoi feature 7-ply North American Maple held together with Epoxy resin glue. all seems pretty standard, right? Well, this is the cool part. the top layer of ply has the center cut out, leaving a wood frame. Inside this wood frame, a layer of carbon-fiber is placed. This is then set in with resin bonding the carbon to the wood.
The Impact light skateboard deck is Enjoi’s lightest deck, stronger than the rest, and will have longer-lasting pop, and amazing deck life.
They also come with a 45-day guarantee against breakage.
Enjoi Impact Support
Continuing with the fancy carbon-fiber theme Enjoi released the impact support deck. This is an 8-ply skateboard deck. All made from North America Maple and Epoxy Resin. At the mounting point for the trucks, 2 carbon-fiber disks have been placed. This helps absorb impact and distribute stress. Introducing the carbon-fiber promotes a strong deck, long-lasting pop, and longer deck life. With a 45-day guarantee against breakage you spend a little more but get a whole lot more!
Enjoi & The Regrowth Programme
Since 2018 Dwindle has developed the REgrowth programme. Partnering up with the National Forest Foundation. Plain and simply 3 trees are planted for every 1 used to make skateboards. This is to help replenish the wood used to produce skateboards and create a sustainable life cycle for skateboard construction.
The Dwindle factory also reduces the wastewater and pollutants. All the water used throughout the manufacturing process is filtered for solids and dyes and then reused again and again. Also, all the furnaces are filtered to reduce pollutants.
Dwindle really is pushing the sustainable side of their production.
